How to throw the ultimate Hens party

Updated: Jun 30, 2023

A crash course on how to be the hostess with the mostess and throw the ultimate hens party. Your bestfriend is set to get married to the love of her life – this will be a once in a lifetime party (we hope). It’s not always necessary to indulge in drunken revelry and tell racy tales in order to have a great Hens night. Let us help you with a few tips and tricks of the trade.

Start Planning Early

Our best tip is it’s better to begin the ball rolling on the planning process right away. The good activities and places book out early so don’t miss out. You don’t want to miss out on the best activities in town because the group took months to decide. Book the date and activities for the Hens party as soon as possible.

Timing is key

Have a schedule down on paper – just something simple outlining key locations and times. This is particularly helpful if you have people joining at different times during the day or evening. Leave a little room in the schedule for chilling out and in case something or someone is running late. Be realistic about activities and timings. Leave a good gap between different activities.

Money Worries

We all know it can be a little awkward asking people for money, but trust us when we say it is best to ask your guest to have all their money paid in advance rather than getting cash from everyone on the day of the hens party. You’ll probably need to put down a deposit and commit to minimum numbers for different activities for the hens party and you don’t want to foot the bill at the end because someone didn’t show up. Keep all the funds in a separate account or in an envelope with everyone’s names.

Take Lots of photos

Send guest home with more than just their memories. Take the opportunity to get photos galore. Remember to always ask the entertainers for permission before you start snapping away.

Add Accessorise

Photo props, flower crowns, penis shaped straws, cupcakes and cheeky tiaras are all hilarious, just don’t overdo it.

Lots of Champagne

It’s a party after all so bring out the Prosecco – bubbles, bubbles and more bubbles. In saying this, we also recommend to be steady on the booze during your planned activities. Make sure you soak up the alcohol with lots of good food and don’t forget to hydrate with water.

Be Different, Be Classy

The classic hens party usually involves waving penis paraphernalia around, strippers and stumbling out of a club with your heels in your hands (nothing wrong with this type of hens party – there’s a reason it’s a classic). However, if the bride is after a more classy, less travelled Hens party why not try something different like a nude Life Drawing class or Body Painting. I’m sure the hunky nude male model with get your heart rate up and will deliver on the laughs and good time.

Awkward – Break the Ice

Hens parties are often a mix of people from all walks of the hens life. This may bring about some awkward chit chat and moments. Planning a fun activity at the start of the day/night will make things more comfortable. Another way to break the ice is to play some silly games to get the party started.

Bonus Tip: Best activity to break the ice? Book in a Life Drawing class – it’s hilarious and will get everyone laughing while enjoying the hunky fully nude model.
